Coto de Hayas ‘Gran Centenaria’ Compo de Borja 2010

Grenache from Spain
Review Date : 14-Jun-2012
100% Garnacha from vines over 100 y.o., fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 4 months in new French oak. Impenetrable black-purple red colour, this has concentration and density of savoury black fruits, rich and ripe, and very well integrated with subtly lifted oak spices. Softly packed with densely concentrated ripe black fruit flavours, the creamy, smooth textures stand out, with supple, balanced tannins underlining the palate. The acidity is reserved, adding to the richness and rounded mouthfeel. Exotic oak spices add a layer of interest. This is generous and warm, mouthfilling and shows a decadence, without being coarse of flabby in any way. Old vine concentration shows. Drink over the next 6-8+ years.  18.5+/20  Jun 2012  RRP $31.90
