Costera Alta ‘Ursula’ Valencia 2012

Mourvedre from Spain
Review Date : 29-Sep-2015
Full, dark ruby-red colour with some garnet on the rim. The bouquet has a rounded, but well-concentrated core of dark-red and black-berried fruits entwined with subtle herb, pepper, earth and black mineral notes. The aromatics are restrained in expression and unfold liquorice and hints of resinous, seasoned oak. Medium-full bodied, this has a soft, smooth and fine-textured core with concentrated flavours of black and dark-red berry fruits melded harmoniously with herb and mineral nuances. The fruit is stylishly restrained and gently bound. The wine flows easily along a plush line, the extraction and acidity integrated and balanced. The palate carries to an elegant, lingering finish. This is an elegantly concentrated, smooth-flowing Monastrell with restrained flavours of black fruits and subtle nuances of herbs. Match with lamb, beef and venison over the next 3-4+ years. 100% Monastrell from vineyards over 500 m.a.s.l., fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 4 months in new French oak followed by a further 7 months in tank. 16.5+/20 Oct 2015 RRP $23.99
