Coopers Creek ‘Select Vineyards – Mister Phebus’ Marlborough Riesling 2009

Riesling from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 16-Feb-2011
Coopers Creek's first ‘Select Vineyards' Marlborough Riesling, the grapes sourced from the Ellin's site in Dog Point Road, fermented to 12.0% alc. and 12 g/L rs, with a pH of 2.9 Very pale, green hued straw-yellow colour, this has a very tight, finely concentrated nose of florals, lime fruit, steel and minerals showing some signs of toasty secondary complexities. Dry to taste, this is superbly fine-featured with a soft-grained, sleek mouthfeel, the freshness enhanced by excellent racy acidity. Delicately lush citrus fruits, florals and mineral flavours sit alongside toasty elements providing real interest. The wine has a long, sustained and nuanced finish. An excellent aperitif wine that will also match gently flavoured Pacific Rim cuisine over the next 5-6 years. 18.5/20 Feb 2011 RRP $21.00
