Coopers Creek ‘Select Vineyards – Chalk Ridge’ Hawke’s Bay Viognier 2009

Viognier from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 16-Feb-2011
Brilliant, limpid straw-yellow colour, this has soft aromas of apricots, exotic florals, citrus zest and a touch of oak spiciness. Dry on palate, this has an oily-textured and unctuous mouthfeel, and lovely flavours of ripe apricots with citrus fruits and floral notes. The wine features a dense core and plenty of presence especially through the mid-palate that will make it an extremely versatile wine to serve with food. Middle Eastern and Mediterranean fare will be ideal. Ginger, spices and oak elements show on the finish. Drink over the next 3-4 years. Fruit from the ‘Chalk Ridge' block, south of Havelock North. Fermentation finished off in French oak to 13.5% alc. and a dry 3.8 g/L rs, the wine remaining in oak for 10 months. 18.0-/20 Feb 2011 RRP $21.00
