Coney ‘Pizzicato’ Martinborough Pinot Noir 2011

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 26-Jun-2013
Predominantly 10/5 clone with 5 and 13, and small amounts of 115, 115 and Abel, fully destemmed and fermented to 14.0% alc, the wine given 10 days on skins post ferment and aged 10 months in 35% new French oak. Light, garnet-hued ruby-red colour, lighter on edge. This has a light bouquet of softly fragrant aromas of red florals with a herbal underlay, the nose open and accessible. Medium-bodied, a light core of pretty red berry fruits intermixed with fresh herbs is enlivened by crisp and racy acidity. The mouthfeel is lively and suggests succulence, with good tannin extract in balance and moderate drive that carries the flavours to a light, but lingering finish of red fruits and herbal notes. This is a light-fruited, fresh and racy Pinot Noir with balanced, supple structure. Serve with firm-fleshed seafood and poultry over the next 3-4 years. 16.0+/20 Jun 2013 RRP $34.00
