Conde Valdemar Rioja Crianza Tempranillo 2011

Tempranillo from Spain
Review Date : 27-Sep-2015
Full, dark, deep, black-red colour with some youthful purple hues. The nose is youthfully firm with intensely packed primary black berried fruit aromas melded savoury plum and earthy elements, unfolding sweet vanilla oak lift. Full-bodied, the flavours of black and dark-red berry fruits are well-concentrated and deep with a tight core. Grainy tannins provide structure and plenty of mouthfeel and grip. This is robust and mouthfilling with plenty of presence. Oaking adds an underlying layer of sweetness, but allows the fruit to prevail. The wine has very good length. This is a youthful, fruit-expressive, robust and structured Rioja Crianza. It will benefit from another 3-4+ years in bottle. 90% Tempranillo and 10% Mazuelo fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 15 months in American oak barrels. 18.0-/20 Sep 2015 RRP $27.95
