Conde de Valdemar Rioja Crianza Tempranillo 2010

Tempranillo from Spain
Review Date : 27-Sep-2015
Dark, deep, black-red with some garnet hues on the rim. The bouquet is full and softly presented with savour dark red berry and sweet plum aromas, harmoniously integrated with coconut and vanilla-like American oak notes. Medium to medium-full bodied, the palate is rounded, smooth-textured and integrated with an even flow and fine palate line. The flavours of berryfruits, plums and sweet oak are gentle and a little shy. Some savoury earth and spicy game nuances show secondary development and interest. Fine-grained tannins underline the fruit, and this has delicate acid freshness. The wine carries to a dry, savoury finish. This Rioja Crianza is elegant and integrated, with some secondary character. It is beginning to drink well now. 90% Tempranillo and 10% Mazuelo fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 16 months in American oak barrels. 17.5-/20 Sep 2015 RRP $27.95
