Concha y Toro ‘Casillero del Diablo’ ‘Reserva’ Valle Central Carmenere 2016

Other Red from Chile
Review Date : 05-Apr-2018
Even, dark purple-red colour with black hues, youthful in appearance. The nose is well-proportioned with moderately rich fruit aromas of dark-red berry fruit along with red and blackcurrants, entwined with dark herbs and a layering of spicy and cedary oak. Medium-full bodied, the palate has elegantly concentrated and pack flavours of richly sweet dark-red berry fruit and blackcurrants infused with dark herbs, nuances of stalk, and an overlay of spices and cedary oak. The palate has light tannin structure providing good backbone, with integrated acidity. The wine carries easily to a long finish of currants, herbs and cedar. This is an elegantly concentrated, sweetly rich fruited Carmenere with currant, herb and stalky flavours along with spicy and cedary oak on a light-structured palate. Match with game meat dishes over the next 3-4 years. Fruit from the Central Valley, fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged in oak barrels. 17.0/20 Apr 2018 RRP $18.99
