Comte Armand Pommard 1er ‘Clos des Epeneaux’ ‘Monopole’ 2008

Pinot Noir from France - Burgandy
Review Date : 20-Sep-2012
From the 5.26 ha monopole site, with vines 10-70 years of age, averaging 55 y.o. Lightish ruby-red colour with garnet hues on edge. The bouquet has an ethereal amalgam of red berry fruits with savoury dried herbal secondary elements and spicy oak that blossom and become voluminous. Medium-bodied, this is elegant in expression with savoury red cherry fruit with dried herb, and hints of mushrooms that unfold with subtle waves of game meat and oak spices in the flavour profile. Piquant, elevated acidity drives the palate, with moderate extraction resulting in a brisk, slippery mouthfeel. Some nutty, oxidative nuances become apparent. This shows a cooler spectrum of flavours. Drink over the next 3-5 years. 17.5/20 Sep 2012 RRP $N/A
