Bright straw-yellow colour with light golden hues, pale on rim. The nose is fresh and tightly bound with finely concentrated, aromas of white stonefruit and citrus fruits along with subtle nuances of nutty oak and flinty, minerally detail. This is slender in presentation, but grows in intensity with aeration. Medium-full bodied and elegantly concentrated, the palate features vibrant and bright fruit flavours of white and yellow stonefruits and citrus fruits, unfolding nutty oak and flinty lees detail. The mouthfeel is well-balanced with fresh, lacy acidity, soft barrel-ferment creaminess and very refined phenolic textures. The palate has energy and tension, leading to a crisp, stonefruited finish enriched by sweet oak elements. This is an elegant, tightly bound Chardonnay with stonefruit and citrus fruit, crisp acidity and a fine, textured line. Match with seafood and poultry over the next 4-5 years. Hand-picked clone 95 fruit from the Escarpment Vineyard, Te Muna Road, WBP, indigenous yeast barrel-fermented with full solids to 13.5% alc, the wine aged in 16% new Rousseau oak on lees with batonnage and 50% MLF. 1,800 bottles made. 17.5/20 Sep 2015 RRP $34.00
