Colombo Martinborough Terrace Martinborough Pinot Noir 2014

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 12-Sep-2015
Dark, deep, ruby-red colour with youthful purple hues. This has a firmly concentrated nose with aromas of ripe black and dark red berry fruit melded with layers of toasty oak and some minerally reductive complexities. The aromatics show good depth and power. Medium-full bodied, rich and juicy, fulsome flavours of dark red and savoury black berried fruits are entwined with toasty oak. The fruit is supported by an open and accessible structure with a balanced tannin framework and acid background. The fruit is vibrant and the mouthfeel lively, with the extraction and fruit richness carrying the wine to a sustained finish of black and red fruits, and toasty oak notes. This is a rich, juicy, black and red-fruited Pinot Noir with distinctive toast oak, and a well-balanced and structured palate. Serve with barbecued and grilled red meat dishes over the next 6-7 years. Hand-picked fruit, clones 115, 667 and Abel from 16 y.o. vines, from the home Todds Road block, indigenous yeast fermented with approx 10% whole bunches to 13.5% alc., the wine on skins 21 days and aged 13 months in 40% new French oak. 1,600 bottles made. 17.5-/20 Sep 2015 RRP $35.00
