Collaboration Wines Ceresia Cabernet Franc 2019, Hawke’s Bay

Cabernet Franc from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 12-Jan-2022
Deep, rich ruby-red, lighter on the rim. The nose is softly full with lifted and pure aromas of red berries, ripe currants and plums, entwined with mint, acacia, nutmeg and cinnamon. Medium-bodied, good concentration and brightness of red berries, currants and plums interwoven nutmeg, cinnamon, lingering with mint, blackcurrant vines and sweet floral nuances. The palate is bright and lifted with delicate floral and herbaceous details; fruit is presented with purity and elegance, supported by lacy acidity and powdery tannin drive a long salivating, savoury finish. This excellent Cabernet Franc shows varietal elegance and complexity, with plush fruit and smooth mouthfeel. Match with wild boar and hare over the next 5-8 years. 100% Cabernet Franc from Apex Vineyard, Bridge Pa, handpicked, destemmed, 100% whole berries, cold soaked for 4-5 days and fermented in small open-top fermenters. Aged 24 months in new (30%) and old French oak barrels. Unfined, unfiltered. 18.5+/20 pts (94 pts) Jan 2022 RRP $45
