Collaboration Series Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay 2014

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 10-Oct-2015
Bright straw-yellow colour with light golden hues, lighter on rim. This has a full, open nose of ripe citrus fruits toasty and nutty oak, creamy barrel-ferment elements, butterscotch and lemon-curd MLF layers, and complexing flinty, reductive nuances. The aromatics build in depth with aeration. Medium-full bodied, the palate features rich, layered and complex flavours of citrus fruits, creamy and buttery MLF, nutty and toasty oak and flinty detail. The mouthfeel has a positive, rounded core and line, and is bright and vibrant with lively acidity, balancing the creaminess. A fine phenolic thread emerges to carry the wine to a long, elegantly concentrated finish. This is a well-layered, sophisticated Chardonnay with creamy, nutty richness and flinty detail and a lively mouthfeel. Serve with seafood, poultry and pork over the next 4+ years. Hand-picked fruit from the ‘Clearview’ vineyards, WBP and barrel-fermented, partially with indigenous yeasts to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 10 months in 25% new French oak, undergoing batonnage and partial MLF conversion. 18.5-/20 Oct 2015 RRP $19.99
