Bright, very pale straw-yellow colour with green hues and a pale rim. This has a full, gentle bouquet with an array of aromatics including pungent passionfruit, English gooseberries and citrus fruits interwoven and layered in expression. The nose blossoms and becomes voluminous in the glass. Dry to taste, the flavours are tight and a little subdued, but the palate shows good presence and depth. Passionfruit, gooseberries nectarines and tropical fruits emerge and are enlivened by fresh acidity. The palate has poise and tension, leading to a long, lingering finish with delicate fruit notes. Fruit from the Rapaura, Fairhall, Renwick and Brancott sub-regions cool-fermented in stainless-steel with inoculated yeasts to 13.5% alc. The excellent bouquet promises how the palate will open up over the next 2-3 years. Serve with antipasto, tapas, seafood and poultry. 18.0+/20 Oct 2011 RRP $29.90
