Cloudy Bay Marlborough Pinot Gris 2009

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 20-Mar-2012
Bright, pale straw-yellow colour, pale on rim. The nose is full of ripe pear and yellow stonefruit aroma with hints of honey and complex nuances of flinty lees work. Dry to taste, this has good weight and concentration of flavours, an amalgam of stonefruit, honey, spices and flinty lees and reductive elements. The wine has a warm, rounded mouthfeel, and the acidity is restrained. A slight phenolic texture gives structure and line, leading to a dry, firm finish. Fruit from the Brancott and Renwick sub-regions, hand-picked and WBP, a portion indigenous yeast and barrel-fermented in seasoned oak to 14.0% alc. and 6.0 g/L rs, the barrel component given batonnage. This is a dry Pinot Gris with good weight and a complex stonefruit and lees flavoured palate, to match with antipasto and poultry over the next 3-4+ years. 17.5/20 Mar 2012 RRP $29.90
