Based on fruit from 90% Broadbridge clay and 10% Greywacke riverbed soils, this was given a cold soak and fermented to 14.0% alc. All of the wine was oak aged for one year, 21% in new French barrels. Bright ruby red with a good heart to the colour, this has a full, even bouquet of dark fruits with complexing cedar, savoury meat, mushroom and truffle-like aromas. This is beautifully soft, fine and succulently sweet on palate; the flavours of dark plums are quite juicy and lush in expression. The tannin extraction is extremely fine, and provides a supple and superbly balanced platform for the fruit. This is already well-integrated and the wine's completeness will provide excellent drinking with fine poultry and pork dishes over the next 5-7 years. 18.5+/20 Jan 2011 RRP $42.00
