Clearview ‘Reserve’ Hawke’s Bay Syrah 2016

Syrah from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 13-Aug-2017
Very dark, near impenetrable black-red colour at the hearty, a little lighter on the edge. This has a very full, softly voluminous and gently concentrated nose packed with aromas of ripe blackberry and dark raspberry fruit along with a piquant herbal line and lifted violet and dark-red florals. Medium-full bodied, the palate is rich and solidly concentrated with deep flavours of ripe blackberry and dark raspberry fruit unfolding a subtle array of piquant herbs with subtle notes of spice and florals. The palate is rounded, and supported by supple, but considerable tannin structure which enables the fruit sweetness to prevail and carry to a long and sustained finish of black berried and raspberry with an individual herbal line. This is rich, rounded but well concentrated and structured Syrah with ripe blackberry and raspberry fruit and a distinctive herbal complexity. Match with herb-marinated game meat dishes over the next 6-8+ years. Fruit from estate Te Awanga vines fermented with 100% whole bunches to 13.5% alc., the wine spending 4 weeks on skins and aged 14 months in four seasoned puncheon, two being 1 y.o. 18.5+/20 Aug 2017 RRP $45.00
