Clearview ‘Reserve’ Hawke’s Bay Semillon 2018

Semillon from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 25-Jan-2019
Brilliant, light golden-yellow colour with some depth. The nose has good concentration and firmness with a strong core of green stonefruits, nectarines, gooseberries and cut grass. The oak shows prominence and is broad in expression, but shows crispness and firmness. Dry to taste and medium-full bodied, the palate has a concentrated and intensely packed core of green stonefruits showing nectarines, greengages, cut grass, along with up-front, spicy oak notes. The fruit forms a dense line, but is enlivened by fresh, crisp acidity. The firm linearity and flavours carry to a brisk, lingering finish. This is a frim, crisp and brisk oak-influenced Semillon with intense stonefruit, cut-grass and herbal flavours on a racy palate with oak notes showing strongly. Match with herb-marinated white dishes over the next 3-4 years. Te Awanga fruit fully indigenous yeast barrel-fermented in 2 y.o. oak to 12.6% alc. and < 1 g/L RS, the wine aged 8 months in oak undergoing batonnage and partial MLF. 17.5+/20 Jan 2019 RRP $27.00
