Clearview ‘Reserve’ Hawke’s Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2018

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 25-Jan-2019
Bright, light golden straw-yellow colour, a little lighter on the rim. The nose is softly full with integrated aromas of green stonefruits, nectarines, and greengages, and a little cut grass interwoven with soft notes of nutty oak and some piquant lees adding freshness to the nose. Fresh herb notes unfold with aeration. This has good balance and integration. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate has a near-unctuous texture with deep, rounded and integrated flavours of green stoneftuits and herbal notes interwoven with soft, nutty oak. Some fresh piquancy provides liveliness, energy and vitality, and the wine carries smoothly to a soft, rounded, lingering finish. This is a smooth, integrated oak-influenced Sauvignon Blanc with richness and subtle freshness. Match with herb-marinated seafood and white meats over the next 3-4 years. Te Awanga fruit fully indigenous yeast barrel-fermented in old oak to 12.5% alc. and < 1g/L RS, the wine aged 5 months in oak undergoing batonnage and partial MLF. 18.0/20 Jan 2019 RRP $27.00
