Clearview ‘Reserve’ Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay 2015

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 13-Dec-2016
Even, light golden-yellow colour with some depth, a little lighter on the rim. The nose is full, rich and voluminous with deeply packed aromas of ripe yellow stonefruits along with citrus and tropical fruit aromas, enriched and layered with creamy barrel-ferment, nutty aromatic oak and buttery MLF notes. Toasty and flinty detail add to the interest. Medium-full bodied, the palate features richly concentrated heart unfolding mouthfilling flavours of yellow stonefruits entwined with citrus and tropical fruits, creamy and nutty barrel-ferment flavours and toasty, butter complexities. The mouthfeel is succulent and balanced by a fine-textured line and refreshing, lacy acidity. This has presence and drive and leads to a very long finish of stonefruit, nutty oak and flinty interest. This is a rich, complex, multi-layered Chardonnay with stonefuit, nutty, buttery and toasty flavours and flinty detail on a fine-textured, fresh, driven palate. Match with roast pork over the next 5 years. Fruit from Te Awanga, vines up to 29 y.o., hand-picked, WBP, predominantly indigenous yeasts, barrel-fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 8 months in 44% new French oak barriques, then given a further 6 months in seasoned oak, with 100% MLF. 19.5/20 Dec 2016 RRP $39.00
