Clearview ‘Old Olive Block’ Hawke’s Bay 2015

Blended Red from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 05-Mar-2017
Full, even, very dark, black-red colour, a little lighter on edge. This has an elegantly presented, well proportioned nose with fragrant, aromatic fruit, showing bright and fresh blackcurrant and blackberry fruit with redcurrant notes, unveiling blackcurrant leaf, fresh herbs and nuances of pencilly oak. This is very refined in expression. Medium-full bodied, the palate features succulently sweet, ripe flavours of blackcurrants, blackberries and cassis with blackcurrant leaf, fresh minty herbs and pencilly oak. The mouthfeel is vibrant and lively, with fine-grained tannin structure and fresh, lacy acidity providing energy, drive and tension. This has refinement and linearity, and carries to a long, refreshing, sweet-fruited finish with curranty fruit and herb notes, This is a sweetly ripe, elegant, aromatic Cabernet Sauvignon-based blend with blackcurrant, cassis and herb flavours on a fresh, fine-textured palate. A classical Bordeaux style. Match with herb-marinated lamb and beef dishes over the next 8-10 years. A blend of 69% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Malbec and 12% Cabernet Franc, the latter two varieties from the estate Te Awanga vineyard, the Cabernet Sauvignon fruit from Gimblett Road, indigenous yeast fermented to 13.8% alc., the wine aged 17 months in 25% new oak. 18.5+/20 Mar 2017 RRP $38.00
