Clearview ‘Coastal’ Hawke’s Bay Gewurztraminer 2018

Gewurztraminer from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 25-Jan-2019
Bright, full, deep, light lemon-green hued straw-yellow colour, a little lighter on the edge. The nose is firm and tightly bound with a concentrated core of root ginger fruit aromas along with an amalgam of florals and herbs and complex nuances of minerally reductive elements. Off-dry to taste and medium-full bodied, the palate is firm and concentrated with a well-driven core of root ginger fruit along with subtle floral, spice and herb elements. A little reduction adds to the firmness and concentration with hints of bitterness. The palate is fine-textured and has integrated acidity that lends good drive, leading to a lingering, off-dry finish. This is a firm and concentrated off-dry Gewurztraminer with flavours of root ginger, minerals, herbs and a little reduction, good linearity and fine textures. Serve with Japanese, Thai and Vietnamese cuisine over the next 3 tears. Te Awanga fruit, WBP and indigenous yeast tank-fermented to 13.5% alc. and 6 g/L RS, the wine aged 4 months on lees. 17.5/20 Jan 2019 RRP $21.00
