Clearview ‘Beachhead’ Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay 2016

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 05-Mar-2017
Bright straw-yellow colour with some depth, lighter edged. The nose is softly full and well-proportioned unfolding good volume of white stonefruits harmoniously melded with flint, nuts and minerals. The aromatics build in concentration with aeration. Medium-full bodied, the palate has a strong and positive heart with well-packed flavours of white stonefruits and a layer of complexing gunflint, nutty lees and minerals, and nuances of oak. The flavours are mouthfilling and the wine is finely textured, with balancing, piquant acidity. Some underlying alcoholic power carries the wine to a long, lingering, nutty, flinty finish. Serve with most white meat dishes over the next 4+ years. Hand-picked estate fruit, WBP and fully barrel-fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 8 months in 10% new French oak undergoing batonnage and 100% MLF. 18.5-/20 Mar 2017 RRP $28.00
