Clark Estate Marlborough Pinot Gris 2016

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 17-Jul-2016
Brilliant pale straw-yellow colour with a suggestion of blush. This has a well packed, rounded and concentrated nose with aromas of white and yellow stonefruits melded with soft spice and rose-petal floral notes, entwined with youthful, lifted fermentation esters. This has good breadth and intensity and unfolds nutty nuances in the glass. Dryish to taste and medium-bodied, the flavours are stylishly restrained in expression with a rounded core of yellow stonefruits intermingling with exotic florals, honeysuckle and fermentation esters. The palate has a gentle richness and smooth-flowing mouthfeel underlined by a very fine thread of phenolics and energised by fresh acidity. The wine carries to a long finish with florals and subtle spice notes. This is a softly concentrated and rounded dryish Pinot Gris with exotic fruit flavours. Match with Asian and Middle Eastern fae over the next 3+ years. Fruit from the Upper Awatere ‘Home’ block, fermented in stainless-steel with 10% in barrel to 12.5% alc. and 7 g/L RS, 20% including all the wooded portion by indigenous yeasts. 17.5/20 Jul 2016 RRP $21.00
