Clark Estate Marlborough Pinot Gris 2014

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 25-Jun-2015
Full, light golden-hued straw-yellow colour with a slight blush and some depth. The nose is full and evenly expressed with aromas of ripe rears and yellow stonefruits, enriched by honied elements and exotic florals. Nuances of ginger, rose-petal aromatics and esters lift the nose. Off-dry to taste and medium-bodied, gently rich fruit flavours of aromatic yellow stonefruits, honeysuckle and exotic florals feature on the palate. The mouthfeel is soft and tends unctuous in texture with soft acidity contributing to the roundness. Ginger, spices and florals blossom, revealing a soft, well-packed core. Fresh, lacy acidity emerges and carries the wine to a light, refreshing finish. This is a soft, gently exotic and honied off-dry Pinot Gris with a clean finish. Match with Asian and Middle Eastern fare over the next 3+ years. A blend of early and later picked fruit, cool-fermented in stainless-steel, the latter with residual sugar, given 4 months aging in gross lees and blended to 13.1% alc., and 7.37 g/L RS. (Also bottled as Boreham Wood ‘Single Vineyard’ Awatere Valley Marlborough Pinot Gris 2014.) 17.5-/20 Jun 2015 RRP $21.00
