Clark Estate Clericus Wild Pinot Noir MMXVII 2017, Marlborough

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 28-Apr-2022
Deep ruby-red with a slight garnet sheen, lighter on edge. The nose is softly full and elegantly presented with sweet fruit of strawberries, cherries, interweave medicinal herbs, clove and subtle earth. Medium-bodied, nuances of strawberries, cherries entwined with liquorice, thyme, unfolding clove, nutmeg, cinnamon and forest floor. Savoury elements and spices added dimension and layers. The fruit has concentration and ripeness, enriched by a firm yet velvety tannin structure. Integrated acidity carries fragrant fruit and spice and lends a long, elegant finish. This elegant Pinot Noir possesses sweet fruit, herbs and earth details, structured by fine-grained, velvety tannins; it shows slight development and yet youthful with strength. Match with duck and pigeon over the next 5-8 years. Selected parcels, indigenous yeast fermented to 13.5% alc, aged on lees in barrels. 18.5+/20 (94 pts) Apr 2022 RRP $55
