Cirro Marlborough Pinot Noir 2011

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 31-Dec-2013
Moderately deep ruby-red colour with a good heart and garnet hues, lighter on edge. The bouquet is softly full and voluminous with densely packed aromas of savoury red berry fruits harmoniously melded with waves of earthy secondary and mushroom notes, along with spicy herbs and cedary oak complexities. Medium-bodied, a soft core of cooked strawberries, savoury red berry fruits, earth and spice flavours fill the palate. The mouthfeel is soft and mellow with supple tannins that are integrated with restrained acidity. Secondary flavours of undergrowth and mushrooms mingle with liquorice and oak cedar, and carry through to a soft and rounded finish. This is a mellow, smooth flowing, savoury Pinot Noir with mouthfilling flavours. Serve with mushroom risotto, pasta and duck dishes over the next 3+ years. Fruit from the mid-Wairau Valley from 10 y.o. vines, fully destemmed, given a cold soak and indigenous yeast fermented to 13.3% alc., the wine aged 18 months in seasoned French oak barriques. 16.5+/20 Jan 2014 RRP $26.99
