Cirro Marlborough Pinot Noir 2009

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 24-Aug-2012
Dark ruby-red colour with good depth, some garnet on rim. This has a deep nose of ripe dark raspberry fruits with some underlying dark herb and savoury game notes. A little inky reduction is noticeable. Medium-bodied, intense and deep flavours of dark red cherry fruit show with some liquorice and spice interest. Some savoury secondary elements are beginning to develop. The concentrated core of the palate is supported by reasonably fine, grainy tannins and balanced acidity. This has a firm, sinewy flow through the palate and the structure is carried to a sustained dry, flavoursome finish of dark raspberry fruits. This is a medium-bodied Pinot Noir with a firm core and ripe, dark fruits with some savoury interest appearing. Match with Middle Eastern meat dishes over the next 4-5 years. Clones 667, 777, 5 and 15, fruit from 15 y.o. vines from a single vineyard on the Wairau plains, fermented to 14.0% alc. and aged 18 months in seasoned oak. 17.0+/20 Aug 2012 RRP $26.99 Clones 667, 777, 5 and 15, fruit from 15 y.o. vines from a single vineyard on the Wairau plains, fermented to 14.0% alc. and aged 18 months in seasoned oak. Garnet hued ruby-red colour, this has a moderately voluminous nose with strawberry jam, savoury game and spicy, nutty oak aromas quite firm and intensely bound. Medium-weighted, there are soft, savoury red berry fruit, forest floor and spicy game flavours forming a dense core to the palate. Nutty elements with oak cedar and resiny nuances add layers of interest. Balanced acidity supports the fruit with liveliness and some tension, and the tannins are in the background. The wine shows secondary development on the back palate with sweet and sour notes. Match with antipasto, mushrooms and Middle Eastern cuisine over the next 3-4 years. 16.0-/20 Oct 2011 RRP $26.99
