Fruit from the Waihopi, cool-fermented in stainless-steel, with 10% in seasoned oak to 13.0% alc. and 5.6 g/L RS, the wine aged 4 months on lees. Bright, very light straw-yellow colour, pale edged. The nose is fresh with moderately deep aromas of yellow stonefruits, florals and honeysuckle in an amalgam with subtle nuances of flinty, minerally lees notes, lifted by some youthful fermentation esters. Off-dry to taste, the palate is open and full with ethereal flavours of yellow stonefruits and honey. This has good body, mouthfeel and presence with an underlying core carried with some power from the alcohol. Light textures and fresh acidity allow the fruit sweetness and residual sugar carry the flavours carry the wine to a light, nuanced finish. This off-dry Pinot Gris has subtle stonefruit and honied flavours and good vinous presence. Serve with antipasto, tapas and poultry over the next 3 years. 16.5+/20 Oct 2014 RRP $22.99
