Cicada Marlborough Gewurztraminer 2013

Gewurztraminer from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 02-Apr-2015
Contract sourced fruit, stainless-steel fermented to 14.5% alc. and 17 g/L RS, the wine given lees contact. Brilliant pale straw-yellow colour with lemon-green hues. The nose is elegant in proportion with penetrating aromas of rose-petal florals, Turkish Delight and subtle root-ginger nuances, expressed with excellent clarity. With aeration, exotic florals, musk and aromas of stonefruit kernels emerge. Medium in sweetness and fullish bodied, this has a deep and rounded core of concentrated rose-petal, ginger and spicy fruit flavours. The fruit richness is balanced by fine phenolic textures and the depth and weight is enhanced by soft acidity. Alcoholic power drives the palate line and the wine is carried with plenty of energy to a long finish with spice, florals and classical varietal bitterness. This is a powerful and deep-fruited medium Gewurztraminer with rose-petal floral and ginger flavours. Serve with Asian and Middle Eastern cuisine over the next 3-4 years. 18.5+/20 Apr 2015 RRP $24.00
