Churchill ‘Meio Queijo’ Douro 2012

Blended Red from Portugal
Review Date : 01-Feb-2016
Even, black-hued ruby-red colour with purple hues on the rim. This has a concentrated and penetrating nose of youthfully fresh aromas of vibrant dark-red berry fruit entwined with savoury dark herbs and mineral elements. Medium-full bodied, the palate features fresh and vibrant flavours of dark-red berryfruit intermingling with savoury herbs and complexing mineral notes, forming an elegantly concentrated core. The fruit is supported by fine-grained tannin extraction and fresh underlying acidity providing a near-sinewy mouthfeel and flow. The wine is carried with good energy, leading to a sustained finish of black fruits, herbs and minerals. This is an elegantly concentrated, vibrant Douro red with dark fruit, herb and mineral flavours and a sinewy flow. Match with herb-marinated red meat dishes and Mediterranean fare over the next 5-6 years. 40% Touriga Nacional, 30% each Touriga Franca and Tinta Roriz from the company’s ‘A’ grade plantings, fermented to 13.5% alc., 20% of the wine aged in seasoned oak. 17.5+/20 Feb 2016 RRP $24.95
