Bright, full straw-yellow colour with light lemon-green hues. The nose is moderately full and concentrated with up-front aromas of ripe citrus fruits, mealy, nutty elements, butterscotch MLF and considerable toasty oak notes that form a solid amalgam. Medium-bodied, full and luscious fruit flavours of citrus fruits, biscuits, butterscotch and toasty oak feature on the palate. The mouthfeel is rich, soft-textured and creamy from the barrel-ferment and MLF. The palate is fresh with balanced acidity, and carries through to a light, dry finish. This is an up-front, creamy-textured and toasty Chardonnay with lush citrus flavours. Serve with roasted poultry and pork over the next 3+ years. Clones 95 and 15 with some Mendoza, mainly from Tukituki and Korokipo, fully barrel-fermented to 12.9% alc., the wine aged 6 months in 30% new French and Hungarian oak, undergoing batonnage and 100% MLF. 17.5-/20 Jul 2013 RRP $29.99
