Gamay from France - Burgundy
Review Date : 22-Nov-2022
Deep, ruby-red with a black hue, lighter on the rim. This elegant, lifted bouquet penetrates with blackberry, cherry, sweet herbs, spice and earthy minerals. Medium-full bodied, aromas of blackberry and black cherry entwined with apple mint, vanilla, cinnamon, dark chocolate and earth. Graphite minerals and chewy tannins coated the palate with texture, ripe acidity and spice, persisting to a dusty, long finish. This Gamay shows lush black fruit, structure, complexity and a textural, dusty mouthfeel. Match with lamb and duck over the next 5-7 years. Fermented in vats for 20 days, 15% alc, aged in oak barrels for 12 months, 30% new oak. 18.5+/20 pts (94 pts) Nov 2022 RRP $56
