Chateau de Beaucastel Chateauneuf du Pape 2008

Grenache from France - Rhone
Review Date : 20-Nov-2012
Very dark, deep, purple-hued ruby-red in colour, this has an elegant and finely presented bouquet of black berry fruits with notes of black plum jam, spices and black pepper, along with a tightness from the steely, mineral aspects. A medium-full bodied wine, this is fine, firm and tightly bound, resulting in an elegance of size and restraint of expression. However this has excellent concentration and rich, ripe fruit, showing sweetness, with very fine tannin grip underlining the palate. This has mineral and stone-like notes providing freshness and relief. Quite a complete and balanced wine in dimension. This will develop well in an elegant style over the next 10+ years.  Aug 2011
