Chateau de Beaucastel Chateauneuf du Pape 2007

Grenache from France - Rhone
Review Date : 03-Sep-2011
Very dark, deep ruby-red colour with purple hues, this has a very bright, ripe nose of dark berry and plum aromas, showing style and no excesses, all harmonious and beautifully proportioned. A plush, rich sweet fruited wine, the dark raspberry Grenache fruit is the feature, with black berry fruits and jam notes adding layers of expression. This has real density and concentration, yet has an elegance through the cut and textures from the very fine powdery tannins. The result is rich fruit and velvety mouthfeel, enabling suppleness and balance. This stylish wine will no doubt develop over 12-15 years, building in richness and nuance.  Aug 2011
