Chasing Harvest Pinot Noir 2019, Central Otago

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Central Otago & Waitaki
Review Date : 25-Nov-2022
Bright, light ruby-red, lighter on edge. The nose is gently intense and perfumed, enveloping violet, thyme flowers, dark plum, cherry and earth. Medium-bodied, aromas of dark plum, cherry and thyme intertwined with violet, earth, spice and savoury elements. The fruit is pretty, with concentrated flavours, and graceful development of savoury, earthy mushroom details added interest and complexity. Powdery tannins are delicately adorned, supported by integrated, lacy acidity and carry to an enticing, refined, long finish. This charming Pinot Noir possesses intensity, and delicate aromas of floral and herb, enlivening acidity and complex, savoury development and grace. Match with stuffed pigeon and mushroom-based dishes over the next 5+ years. Fruit from Bannockburn and Alexandra, handpicked, hand-sorted, fermented in open-top fermenters with <20% whole clusters foot stomped, fermented to 13.5% alc, macerated over 22 days approx, aged in Fench oak barrels (2nd & 3rd fill), bottled unfined, unfiltered. 19/20 pts (95 pts) Nov 2022 RRP $40
