Charles Wiffen ‘Reserve’ Marlborough Pinot Noir 2007

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 13-Sep-2011
Moderately deep ruby-red with garnet hues and a light edge to the colour. This has a concentrated and intense nose of black berry and black cherry fruits along with some dried herbal secondary savoury aromas spiced by cedary oak. A concentrated wine with intense flavours of ripe, dark red berry fruits with savoury, earthy truffle nuances appearing, the tannin extraction and weight provides a firm backbone for the palate. The textures are quite fine, and fresh acidity provides some good tension and liveliness. Long spicy oak and earthy flavours mark the finish. Match with mushroom and game dishes over the next 4-5+ years. 14.3% alc., the wine was aged 9 months in 100% new French oak barriques. 18.0+/20 Sep 2011 RRP $35.35 Disclaimer: This wine is distributed by ‘Wine2Trade', the company under which ‘Raymond Chan Wine Reviews' operates
