Charles Wiffen Marlborough Pinot Gris 2014

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 21-Jan-2015
Full, even, light straw-yellow colour with a suggestion of blush. The nose is fresh with aromatically lifted, but tightly focussed white stonefruit and exotic floral notes along with honey and spice nuances. Dryish to taste and medium-bodied, the palate is taut and crisp with pure white stonefruit and floral fruit flavours. Pears, honey and spices add subtle interest. The flavours are up-front and fruit-focussed. This has a soft-textured core and line, the wine flowing with good energy and drive, enlivened by fresh, lacy acidity. The wine carries to a light, lingering finish with gentle floral and aromatic fruit nuances. This is a fresh, crisp and racy, dryish Pinot Gris with pure, aromatic stonefruit and floral notes. Serve with Asian and Pacific Rim fare over the next 3+ years. Fruit from the ‘Wiffen’ vineyards, cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.2% alc. and 10.0 g/L RS, the wine aged on light lees. 17.5-/20 Jan 2015 RRP $24.00 Disclaimer: This wine is distributed by ‘Wine2Trade’, the company under which ‘Raymond Chan Wine Reviews’ operates
