Charles Wiffen Marlborough Merlot 2010

Merlot from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 07-Jun-2012
Ruby-red colour with some depth, lighter garnet hues on edge. This has a fresh, elegant and aromatic bouquet of redcurrant fruit, fresh red plums and florals, with notes of herbs emerging in glass. Medium-bodied, restrained flavours of redcurrants and fresh herbs feature with succulence and juiciness. This is well-proportioned with good depth and moderate concentration, balanced by fine, supple tannins and good acid brightness. The acidity carries light currant and red capsicum notes on the finish. This is an elegant and fine-featured, cooler spectrum Merlot with attractive aromatics. Match with roasted lamb over the next 4-5 years. Hand-picked fruit fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine hand-plunged and aged 9 months in 35% new French oak barriques. 16.5+/20 Jun 2012 RRP $25.35 Disclaimer: This wine is distributed by ‘Wine2Trade', the company under which ‘Raymond Chan Wine Reviews' operates
