Charles Wiffen Marlborough Merlot 2008

Merlot from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 05-Aug-2011
Bright, deep, purple hued ruby-red in colour, with a full, well-ripened plummy, earthy, dried herb and tobacco-tinged bouquet. Fullish bodied at 13.5% alc, there is a firmness of structure with fine-grained tannin extraction, which is balanced by deep dark plum flavours. The Marlborough provenance may be seen in the slightly elevated levels of acidity, which provides tension and length. Match with roasted lamb, beef and venison over the next 4-6 years.
