Charles Wiffen Marlborough Chardonnay 2011

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 28-Sep-2012
Bright, pale straw-yellow colour with some green hues, lighter on rim. The nose is tight and somewhat reserved, building in intensity, revealing fresh citrus fruit aromas with oak nuttiness and spices, from the barrel-ferment. Medium-bodied, elegantly presented citrus fruit flavours combine with well-balanced notes of nutty, toasty oak and are underlined by crisp, refreshing acidity. This is sleek and flows with good line and fine, smooth textures, the flavours with drive to a very long crisp finish with citrus and toasty flavours. Tight and elegant, this citrussy, nutty, Chardonnay has good line and the potential to become richer over the next 4-5 years. Serve with seafood and creamy sauce dishes. Mendoza and clone 15 Chardonnay fruit from two well-established blocks barrel fermented to 14.2% alc., the wine aged 9 months in 27% new French oak barriques on lees, a small proportion undergoing MLF. 18.0/20 Sep 2012 RRP $24.55 Disclaimer: This wine is distributed by ‘Wine2Trade', the company under which ‘Raymond Chan Wine Reviews' operates
