Charles Wiffen Marlborough Chardonnay 2010

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 13-Sep-2011
Brilliant straw-yellow colour with a pale edge, this has a full, soft matty nose of mealy citrus fruits, stonefruits and balanced nutty oak. There is depth and intensity. A medium-bodied wine,, the flavours are still tightly bound, with lifted citrus and mealy, nutty flavours. There is depth and proportion, and alcoholic power for the size. Fresh acidity underlines the palate with fine, soft textures, and the finish is long with a complex fruit and nutty oak amalgam. A little soft and undeveloped at present, this will become more defined and concentrated over the next 3-4+ years. Mendoza and clone 15 from two well-established blocks, 100% barrel-fermented to 13.5% alc, the wine aged 9 months in 32% new French oak barriques with lees aging and partial MLF. 17.5+/20 Sep 2011 RRP $24.55
