Charles Lafitte ‘Cuvee Speciale’ Champagne Brut NV

Sparkling Wine from France - Champagne
Review Date : 19-Mar-2013
Light straw-yellow colour with lemon-gold hues, the bead very fine and moderately persistent. This has a soft, gentle nose of yellow stonefruits, indicative of the Pinot varieties. The bouquet grows in volume to show some complex nuances of bready autolysis, nutty aldehydes and savoury development interest. Dry to taste and medium-light bodied, gentle flavours of ripe apples and yellow stonefruits feature with easy accessibility. Subtle bread yeast and nutty flavours are in support and the palate is creamy from lower acidity. A little textural grip carries the flavours through to a dry, mouthwatering finish. This is a light, easy and approachable, fruit-focused Champagne to serve as an aperitif and on any occasion over the next 2+ years. A blend of 50% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Noir and 20% Pinot Meunier. 16.5/20 Mar 2013 RRP $70.00
