Fullish straw-yellow colour with slight golden hues, the bead is persistent and fine. This has a very fine-featured, tightly bound nose with intense aromas of yellow stonefruits, fresh apples, minerals and fresh bread autolysis. Yeast and nutty elements become revealed with time in glass, and a fresh, aromatic yellow floral note is apparent. Dry to taste, pure, refreshing white and yellow stonefruit flavours provide a strong line and core. The effervescence is very fine, with creamy, lacy textures along with good cut and linear drive. Lovely acid tension and liveliness enhances the brioche-like autolysis, and a mouthwatering freshness is carried through the palate line. Delicate flavours of florals, yeast and minerals linger on the sustained finish. This is a fresh, bright Champagne with lively depth and drive. Serve as an aperitif or with seafood in the afternoon. 40% Chardonnay, 40% Pinot Noir and 20% Pinot Meunier, from over 60 crus, with 40% reserve wine 10-15 y.o. 12.0% alc., laid in cellars in 2008, disgorged in 2013. 19.0-/20 Sep 2013 RRP$89.90 Straw-yellow colour, pale on rim, with a fine and moderately persistent bead. The bouquet is firmly concentrated but softly expressed aromas featuring an amalgam of Pinot Noir yellow-stonefruits with toasted bread autolysis and nutty development aromas. Layers of detail are harmoniously interwoven and open out, filling the bouquet with breadth. Dry to taste, the fulsome weight and presence is the feature on palate. The flavours of yellow stonefruits, nuts, yeast and toast are deeply packed and offer complex waves of interest. The mouthfeel is smooth, mellow and creamy in texture, with very soft effervescence. Gentle acidity allows the roundness to prevail, but the dense core carries the flavours to a soft, voluminous finish with nutty, toasty notes. This is a densely packed, mellow and complex flavoured Champagne with layers of flavour. This has an elegant and very penetrating bouquet with concentrated and deep aromas with layers of complexity and detail. Savoury yellow stonefruits with yeast extract and toasted nuts are presented with intensity and with interest. Very dry and concentrated on palate, a full array of flavour detail is present, with Pinot Noir body and depth as the core, and surrounded by yeasty autolysis and savoury aldehyde and nutty elements. This has excellent drive and line, with very fine textures and mouthfeel, which are carried through to a very long, dry, flavour-packed finish. This is a driven, complex, flavour layered Champagne with excellent concentration and interest. Drinking well now and for the next 3-5 years. 19.0-/20 Dec 2012
