Charles and Charles Colombia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon/Syrah 2014

Blended Red from USA
Review Date : 18-Nov-2015
A blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Syrah from the Colombia Valley, the Cabernet Sauvignon indigenous yeast fermented with whole berries, the Syrah as whole clusters to 13.5% alc., the wine spending 35 days on skins. Full, dark, deep, black-hued ruby-red colour. The nose is full and solid with plenty of vinous presence, the aromas of ripe dark-red and blackberry fruit a little restrained in expression, but unfolding layers of plums, liquorice and dark herbs and currants. Medium-full bodied, this has a fulsome and robust palate with mouthfilling flavours of ripe blackberry and blackcurrant fruit entwined with spicy black pepper. The fruit is encased by plenty of tannin structure and the mouthfeel is full and rounded, with density and weight. The acidity is soft, and the wine carries positively to a sweet and long finish of liquorice and plums. This is a full, densely packed and robust, ripe-fruited blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. Serve with hearty red meat dishes and hard cheeses over the next 6-7+ years. 17.5/20 Nov 2015 RRP $30.00
