Charcoal Gully ‘Sallys Pinch’ Central Otago Gewurztraminer 2011

Gewurztraminer from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 09-Oct-2013
Bright, very pale straw colour with slight green hues, pale on rim. The bouquet is firm with tightly bound and restrained aromas of rose-petal florals and musk infused with flint and steely minerals, the nuances delicately expressed. Off-dry to taste and medium-bodied, subtle and delicate flavours of exotic florals are entwined with musk, earth and minerals. A fine, firm core provides good line to the palate and the mouthfeel is dry with some grainy, drying textures. The acidity is soft and allows the phenolics emerge, carrying the floral and minerally flavours to a moderately sustained finish. This is a light and delicately flavoured Gewurztraminer with a dry, textured palate. Serve with oily seafood and subtle Asian cuisine over the next 3+ years. Fruit given 2 days skin contact and cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.6% alc. and 9 g/L RS. Winemaker: Peter Bartle. 16.5+/20 Oct 2013 RRP $20.00
