Chapoutier ‘Les Meysonniers’ Crozes- Hermitage 2011

Syrah from France - Rhone
Review Date : 08-Sep-2013
100% Syrah from vines 25 y.o., fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine aged mainly in vat for 12 months. Full, dark, deep ruby-red colour. This has a fresh and elegant nose with fine, tightly bound and intense aromas of dark berry fruit entwined with fresh herbs, a layer of white pepper, and notes od spice and ink that add detail and interest. Medium-bodied and elegantly proportioned, fine and tightly constrained flavours of dark red berry fruit and pepper are complexed by spice and savoury earth notes and some seasoned oak elements. The fruit is enlivened by fresh acidity and along with fine, grainy tannins in support lend a slender and taut linearity. This has some intensity which leads to a narrowed, savoury peppery finish with good length. This is a slender Crozes-Hermitage with cooler fruit flavours and bright, tight mouthfeel. Serve with most red meat dishes over the next 5-6+ years. 17.0+/20 Sep 2013 RRP $42.99
