Chapoutier ‘Chante Alouette’ ‘Grande Cuvee’ Hermitage Blanc NV

Other White from France - Rhone
Review Date : 25-Feb-2013
100% Marsanne, 14.0% alc. Lot 186, suggesting this was based on the 1986 vintage or released around that time. Light and even golden yellow colour. This has a softly full and integrated bouquet with thick and textured aromas of nuts, stonefruits and toasty complexities, clearly with secondary and tertiary elements. This is still remarkably fresh with out oxidative notes. Dry and full-bodied, this is rugged and dense in weight, body and textures, with fine savoury stonefruits and toasty layering, along with earthy interest. The acidity is a feature, ameliorating the nutty, oily textures and richness. The flavours show no signs of oxidation or breakdown, and there is an impression of the ability to keep very well, another 6-8 years easily. 18.0/20 Feb 2013
