Dark, deep, black-hued ruby-red colour, near impenetrable, a little lighter on the rim. The nose is softly concentrated and densely packed with aromas of very ripe dark raspberries and blackberry fruit unfolding spice and savoury game elements. The core unfolds black earth and black pepper elements with aeration. Full-bodied, the palate possesses sweetly rich and plush, deeply concentrated flavours of savoury dark raspberries and blackberry fruit, harmoniously melded with herbs, spices, earth and game. The tannins are soft, and grainy, providing proper structure, and the wine flows smoothly with integrated acidity and underlying alcoholic power, leading to a sweet, black-fruited finish with spices and pepper. This is a full, plush, concentrated GSM blend with blackberry and raspberry fruit and a smooth, but well-concentrated palate. Match with slow-cooked game meat dishes over the next 5-6+ years. A blend of Grenache, Shiraz and Mourvedre fermented to 14.5% alc., the wine aged 14 months in French oak. 17.5+/20 Sep 2016 RRP $21.99
