Chalk Hill ‘The Procrastinator’ McLaren Vale 2012

Cabernet Franc from Australia - South Australia
Review Date : 08-Jun-2014
55% Cabernet Franc, 28% Merlot and 17% Cabernet Sauvignon fermented to 13.5% alc. Dark, deep ruby-red colour, lighter on rim. The bouquet is softly intense with aromas of leafy blackcurrant fruit along with fresh and dried herbal notes, lifted with ethereal redcurrant elements. The nose builds in depth with aeration. Medium-full bodied, the palate is softly concentrated with fruit flavours of blackcurrants, dried herb and leaf. The mouthfeel features fine-grained, powdery, dusty tannins providing dry textures and grip, the acidity in the background. This has weight and breadth, the palate flowing to a soft, matty finish. This is a full-bodied, mellow, dry-textured Cabernet Franc blend with leafy, dusty and herb flavours. Match with roast lamb and hard cheeses over the next 6-7 years. 17.0/20 Jun 2014 RRP AU$18.00
